  • Community Climbing Days

    Gresham residents can climb for free at Rock Haven Climbing Gym on the first Wednesday of the month.

    This is an opportunity for everyone to try out a new indoor recreation and stay active throughout the year.

    • The free pass includes a day pass and rental climbing shoes and chalk
    • Snacks and climbing gear are available for purchase.

    Rock Haven requires all participants and observers to sign a waiver upon arrival, or use the online waiver. Children under 18 must have a guardian's signature.

    To register

    1. First, climbers and observers should watch the safety video.
    2. You may register on arrival or pre-register for the event.

    If you have any questions, call 503-512-5511 or stop by the gym.

    At the gym, new participants will check in, get their free rental shoes and chalk and be ready to climb. Rock Haven reserves the right to ask for ID at entry to verify the free climb registration.

    Teen Climbing Nights

    During "Rock Haven Teen Nights," on the first and third Saturdays of the month, Gresham teens ages 13-18 can climb for free from 6:00-9:00 pm at Rock Haven Climbing Gym.

    • The free pass includes rental climbing shoes and chalk.
    • Snacks and other gear available for purchase.
    • Rock Haven gym requires all participants to sign a waiver upon arrival. Youth younger than 18 must have a guardian's signature.

    1. First, climbers and observers should watch the safety video
    2. After the safety video there is a waiver, all adults (climbing or observing) must fill out the waiver for themselves and for their minors.
    3. Pre registration is recommended. Register at Rock Haven Climbing gym.

    At the gym, staff check in all participants and observers, and help with rental gear and a brief orientation to get teens ready to climb. Parents, friends or siblings who are not eligible for the program may climb with the purchase of a day pass and gear rental. Rock Haven reserves the right to ask for ID at entry to verify the free climb registration.

    Friday and Saturday Night Basketball

    Middle school and high school youth can attend free basketball practice, skill building and game play on Friday and Saturday nights in Gresham.

    Registration and waiver are required.

    PlayEast Recreation Classes

    Gresham Parks and Recreation partners with PlayEast to offer youth recreation opportunities at locations in Gresham for a fee.

    Examples of activities include Legos, basketball and soccer, parkour, art and more.

    Gresham residents may register for any class or activity.

    Classes are fee-based, but scholarships are available for those in need.

    Senior Tuesday Night Dance

    Put on your dancing shoes and head to the Gresham Senior Center for the Tuesday Night Dance featuring the live band "Pipeliners" from 5:30-7:30 pm. Admission is $6 per person.

    Speed, Agility and Quickness Classes

    The Portland Activities and Athletic League (PAAL) is offering a SAQ (speed, agility and quickness) class for all ages.

    Wag-n-Walk

    Join us for a Wag-n-Walk at parks and trails around Gresham with local dog trainer/walker Avery of Hounding Around.

    Wag-n-Walk schedule

    Turn an ordinary task into a fun one while walking in Gresham and learning tips and tricks for training along the way.

    Hounding Around is a recreation partner with Gresham Parks and Recreation.

    Youth Boxing

    The Portland Activities and Athletic League (PAAL) is offering free youth boxing. This class is available to youth grades 6-12. The PAAL Boxing program includes non-contact or contact boxing, fitness cardio, range of motion, improved strength, sequenced movements, hand/eye exercises and more. 

    Tuesdays and Thursdays

    • Sessions are 90 minutes, once per week.

    Youth CrossFit and Fitness at The Underground

    The Underground PDX offers free CrossFit, basic workout classes and youth mentorship to local middle and high school youth ages 12-21.

    Children's Fountain

    Children's Fountain 

    Kids can play in two fountains - one designed for toddlers, one for bigger kids - that are powered by jets of cool, clean, chlorinated water. The Children's Fountain is open from May to September at the Gresham Arts Plaza401 NE Second St. 

    Rockwood Plaza Splash Pad

    Kids can cool off in the splash pad from 8:00 am-9:00 pm daily from May to September. Located on the Downtown Rockwood Plaza in front of the Rockwood Market Hall, 458 SE 185th Ave.

    The City maintains a 5,710-square-foot skate plaza at Main City Park in historic downtown, 219 S. Main Ave.
